This year, we are proud to celebrate Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM) by showcasing the creativity of students from across the Northwest Territories through our Virtual Art Gallery. This initiative is delivered in collaboration with Agriculture in the Classroom, supporting food literacy and education across Canada.
This special project invites young artists to explore the theme:
Our Food, Our Story, Our Future
Through their artwork, students share what food means to them, where it comes from, who is involved, and how it connects to culture, community, and the future of the North.
A Celebration of Student Creativity
The Virtual Art Gallery features artwork created by students from across the NWT. Each piece reflects a unique perspective, shaped by personal experiences, traditions, and learning.
From drawings of hunting and fishing to imaginative ideas about the future of food, the gallery highlights:
The connection between people and the land
Traditional knowledge and food practices
Community, culture, and shared meals
The role of youth in shaping the future of food
This project is not just about art, it’s about storytelling, identity, and understanding our food systems in meaningful and creative ways.
